Climate. Being just blocks from the Pacific, Playa Vista offers the benefits of fresh air, cooling summer breezes and temperate winters. The Ballona Freshwater Marsh and Bollona Wetlands Ecological Reserve, both of which separate Playa Vista from the beach, further help moderate temperatures and minimize the effects of urban sprawl and air pollution. In a region renowned worldwide for its climate, the Playa Vista neighborhood offers the best of the best.
Walkability. Playa Vista is a new urban community (Construction began in 2002) designed specifically to offer housing, shops, restaurants and other entertainment within convenient walking distance. This makes Playa Vista’s commercial areas particularly vibrant, energetic and fun! Leave the car in the garage. A bicycle — or your own two feet — are all you need to enjoy everything Playa Vista has to offer.
Connectivity. When Playa Vista was built, broadband Internet wasn’t an add-on, but a built-in feature. In 1998, during its planning phase, it was one of just six communities in the U.S. selected by President Bill Clinton as a National Pilot Project of the Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH). As a result, every house and apartment was wired from day one. Community Clubs.Playa Vista is as much as resort as it is a community. Fittingly, its newest community center — one of two in Playa Vista — is called The Resort, and offers everything from swimming to a sprawling fitness center to Zumba and kickboxing classes. The other center, The Centerpointe Club, is a 26,000-square-foot social and recreational gathering place with its own huge swimming pool, fitness room, screening room and meeting rooms. Best of all, club memberships are free all community residents!
Special Events.Playa Vista regularly stages special events where residents can get together and enjoy life as a community. Popular events include Movies in the Park, Concerts in the Park, the Spring Fair, the weekly Farmers Market and annual Taste of Playa Vista.
Affordability. Playa Vista is home to seven modern rental communities. Three of these — Montecito, Malibu and Sausalito — are Irvine Company developments and offer one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 740 to 1,537 square feet. All have saltwater swimming pools, fitness centers and outdoor lounges, and also include memberships in both community clubs.
